About Me
I’m Mariam Cherry, M.S., CCC-SLP, a pediatric speech-language pathologist, independent researcher, and developmental thinker exploring early development in a rapidly changing world.
From a young age, I lived between cultural influences. My father came from a non-Western part of the world, and with a PhD in sociology, he brought questions about culture, human behavior, family life, and social organization into the background of my everyday life. I became fascinated early by the bigger story of human beings: how we evolved and what remains deeply human across time and place.
I also understand, personally, that some nervous systems experience the world differently. As someone who identifies as neurodivergent and highly sensitive, I bring deep respect and genuine love for children whose development diverges from neurotypical.
For more than thirteen years, I have worked with children and families as a practicing pediatric SLP, with expertise in communication disorders, early development, autism and autism-related profiles, motor speech, language, regulation, and social communication.
Through The Shared Rhythms Framework, I am exploring how families, communities, clinicians, educators, and policymakers can help restore some of the repeated experiences young children evolved to expect: movement, co-regulation, sensory-rich play, shared caregiving, real-world participation, daily rhythm, and connection.
